STORING AND MAINTAINING YOUR FRIDGE AND FREEZER

 It is important to keep your fridge and freezer well maintained to prevent bacteria from spreading between foods.

Food should be stored in the right compartments.

  • Respect for the temperature :

First of all, make sure that the reRespect for the temperature :frigerator is kept at a maximum temperature of +4°C at the coldest point.

The freezer should be kept at -18°C.

A little trick to check the tightness of the refrigerator seal: close the refrigerator door on a sheet of paper and then try to remove it. If it resists and tears, the seal is good; otherwise, the seal should be changed!

Another trick to check that the freezer has not defrosted: Place a bottle half-filled with water in the freezer. Once the water has turned to ice, turn the bottle upside down. If you see that the ice has gone down even partially, it means that there has been defrosting and therefore a break in the cold chain.

  • Cleaning and disinfection :

The refrigerator should be cleaned at least once a month and the freezer once a year. To do this, pour soapy water onto a clean sponge

Scrub, rinse and dry with a clean, dry disposable paper. The refrigerator can then be disinfected by pouring diluted chlorinated water onto a clean sponge, rubbing, rinsing and drying with a clean, dry cloth.

Do not forget to clean the seal.

To wash the outside of the refrigerator, use soapy water on a clean sponge, then rinse and dry with a clean, dry cloth. Vacuum the condenser (grille behind the refrigerator) regularly, if accessible, to remove dust from this area.

Note: The freezer should be defrosted at least once a year.

  • Food storage:

When it comes to food storage, it is important to store food according to the temperatures indicated on the labels by the manufacturers. Each food has a place in the refrigerator because, depending on its nature, it should be stored in a more or less cold part of the appliance. Refer to the instructions for use as the zones are not all the same and depend on the appliance. Avoid placing naked or unprotected food (product after opening the packaging without film or other protection). Care should be taken not to overload the refrigerator and freezer to ensure good cold circulation.
